02/17/2009 - Auburn Hills, MI (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Richard Jefferson scored from all over the court en route to 29 points, as Milwaukee built a large lead then held on to down Detroit, 92-86, at the Palace of Auburn Hills.
Ramon Sessions had a solid all-around game with 17 points, nine rebounds and seven assists, while Malik Allen donated 14 points and eight boards off the bench.
Detroit was paced by Antonio McDyess' 24 points and 14 rebounds, while Richard Hamilton added 22 points off the bench. Three players -- Tayshaun Prince, Rasheed Wallace and Allen Iverson -- scored 10 points, but the trio combined to make only 12-of-32 shots from the floor.
The Pistons have lost four straight, while Milwaukee matched its season-best three-game winning streak with the victory.
Milwaukee built a comfortable first-period lead, maintained its cushy margin in the middle two periods then survived down the stretch to prevail.
Sessions and Francisco Elson made back-to-back easy buckets for a 13-4 edge, and a 7-2 burst to cap the quarter opened the double-digit edge. A Jefferson three started the quarter-closing run and Allen's putback off a Sessions miss made the score 29-17.
The lead grew to 50-37 after 24 minutes of game action and the margin held at 13 points with the score 74-61 entering the final quarter.
That is when the battle-tested Pistons made their move.
The edge reached 15 points in the first few seconds of the quarter, but a 9-0 stretch closed the deficit to one point at 80-79 later in the final 12 minutes. McDyess' jumper and three-point play capped the surge with just under six minutes to go.
Jefferson followed with a big layup and subsequent plus-one shot, but Detroit tallied the next three points for an 83-82 contest. Jefferson then stuck a dagger with a big three and Allen's mid-range jumper opened a comfortable advantage at 88-82.
McDyess made back-to-back layups for an 88-86 game -- the second coming off a beautiful drive-and-dish from Iverson. Jefferson was hammered with 47.2 ticks to go, but made just 1-of-2 from the charity stripe. Rodney Stuckey, who made only 1-of-6 shots on the game, followed by missing an open jumper from the elbow, and Sessions made both foul shots with 22.7 seconds left to seal the victory.
Game Notes
